There has never been more art available to us.

Scroll through social media and you can see thousands of beautiful images within seconds. Walk into a shop and there are prints, posters and homewares everywhere. Online marketplaces can offer almost anything for a few pounds.

So why would anyone choose to buy art from an independent artist?

Because there is a difference between buying an image and bringing a piece of someone's creative world into your home.

Art has a story

Every piece of Urban Viking art begins somewhere.

Sometimes it starts with an idea that has been sitting in my head for months. Sometimes it comes from the sea, a landscape, mythology, memory or simply a feeling that needs somewhere to go.

My work has always been about that meeting point between the ancient and the modern — the wildness of the ocean, Nordic influences, human experience, freedom, identity and the strange, beautiful places that exist somewhere between reality and imagination.

That is why I don't see my artwork as simply decoration.

I want it to make you feel something.

Perhaps it reminds you of somewhere you've been.

Perhaps it represents something you've survived.

Perhaps you simply look at it and think, I love that.

And honestly, that's enough.

Why buy an original?

An original painting is completely unique.

There is only one.

The marks made by hand, the texture of the paint and the tiny details that may never reproduce exactly are all part of the physical history of that particular piece.

When you buy an original, you're not buying something designed to fill an empty space on a wall.

You're buying the artwork itself.

Some of my originals are priced at several thousand pounds. I completely understand that they won't be within everyone's budget — and they aren't intended to be.

They are for the person who falls in love with a particular piece and wants to own the original.

And if that isn't you, that's absolutely fine.

Art prints make the work more accessible

One of the things I love about producing prints is that it means more people can live with the artwork.

My A2 art prints are currently £65, with smaller sizes available across the collection.

That means you don't have to spend thousands of pounds to own a piece of Urban Viking.

You can choose the artwork that speaks to you and put it on your wall, in your studio, bedroom, workspace or wherever you want a little more personality.

Because art doesn't have to be serious.

It can be joyful.

It can be weird.

It can be colourful.

It can make you stop for a moment when you walk past it.

And then there are the books...

Urban Viking isn't only about paintings.

I've also created books, including children's titles, because storytelling has always been another part of my creative practice.

For me, painting, writing, music and visual storytelling aren't separate worlds.

They're different ways of communicating an idea.

Sometimes that idea needs colour.

Sometimes it needs words.

Sometimes it needs a character, a story or an entire imaginary world.

You're not buying from a faceless marketplace

This is probably the biggest difference.

When you buy from an independent artist, you're supporting the person who actually made the work.

You're helping them continue creating.

You're helping another painting happen.

Another book get written.

Another strange idea make its way from someone's imagination into the real world.

And that's something I think is worth celebrating.

Urban Viking is an evolving creative universe.

It's art, books, stories, ideas, colour, mythology, the ocean, freedom and a little bit of rebellion.

Some pieces will speak to you.

Some won't.

That's how art is supposed to work.

I'm not interested in creating things that appeal to absolutely everyone.

I'd rather create work that makes the right person stop scrolling and think:

That's mine.
